In July 2015, it was reported that Gil Kenan (Poltergeist, Monster Home) had made a cope with Warner Bros to direct a five nights at freddy’s film adaptation of the immensely widespread online game. In June 2017, Kenan introduced that his adaptation had been cancelled by WB and he was stepping down. In early 2018, it was introduced that Blumhouse Productions was set to make the film with Chris Columbus (Harry Potter, House Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire) lined as much as direct. The mission was aiming for a 2020 launch date.
